My hummus recipe

I’ve been on a mission to eat healthy lately and one of the hardest things for me to stay away from is snacking on junk…I always feel hungry so I like to have some snack options around that are good for me. I started making homemade hummus and I’m in love with it! While I was eating it today I kept saying how yummy it was so I figured I would share the recipe here, maybe someone else will try it :)

Lemon Dill Hummus

1 can of chick peas (540 ml)

a handful of fresh dill (I bought a big bag for $1.99 and have used less than half of it for 2 batches)

juice from a whole lemon

2 cloves of garlic

salt and pepper to taste

vegetable or canola oil

-throw everything in a blender and blend till you get a consistency you like. To be honest, I don’t know how much oil I use…I just throw some in and start to blend, if it won’t blend add some more oil in small amounts till you get it right. Obviously it’s always easier to add less and keep adding it than add too much and have to try fix it by adding more peas. I’ve also tried reducing the amount of oil by adding water but I find that when you leave it in the fridge the water seeps to the top and I don’t really love that.

I usually cut up a bunch of veggies and dip them in the hummus since I’m trying to not eat bread, but I really wish I could have some pita bread with it ;)

Hope you enjoy this…let me know if you try it out, I’d love to know if you like it!
